Alida Roberts Psychotherapy

A Safe Space to Heal, Grow, and Reconnect with Yourself

How We Can Work Together

I offer therapy face-to-face, online, and by telephone, so we can find a way of working that genuinely fits around your life.  Whether you feel most comfortable meeting in person, prefer the ease of connecting from your own home online, or find a phone call works best for you.

Whichever way you choose, we’ll meet for 50 minute sessions which normally take place weekly at a regular time at a pace that is right for you.

What Can I Help With

I work with a wide range of experiences and difficulties that can make life feel heavy or hard to navigate.  These include trauma, bereavement, parents who have experienced children dying, sudden death, terminal illness and suicide.  Because I know that losing an animal you love can be every bit as heartbreaking as any other loss, and that grief deserves to be taken seriously.  I also work with low mood, anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, body image, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and the lasting effects of bullying.

I work with both young people and adults, and whatever brings you here, you will be met with warmth and without judgement.

Workplace Support

Workplace struggles can quietly take over your whole life, and I have spent decades supporting people through exactly that. I have worked extensively with County Councils, Private Industry, and Government Agencies, and I regularly receive referrals from private health providers and employee assistance programmes (EAPs). Whether you are dealing with stress, conflict, bullying, or simply feeling lost in your career, I bring a great deal of experience and genuine understanding to that space.

How I Work

Over the years I have done various training courses and would describe myself as a humanistic practitioner, eclectic/integrative in my approach, developing over the years many interest, for example; bereavement, working with the body – how it holds trauma, emotions, etc., working with childhood abuse, present day trauma, etc.  I aim to hold the therapeutic relationship central to my work exploring the client’s presenting issues, needs and what approach they want in the work; though I find the therapeutic approach can evolve and change as the work goes on.  I recognise that each client will present uniquely and individually and that what worked for one client may not necessarily work for the another client even if the presenting issue(s) appear the same.  I work a mixture of short term and long term, from six sessions through to years.

My Embodied Relational Training and Bowen Training has given me further insight and knowledge into how the body works and how emotions can be held in the body.

Qualifications & Recognition

I am accredited by the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and registered with BUPA, which means you can feel confident that you are in safe, qualified, and experienced hands.  These accreditations reflect my ongoing commitment to ethical, professional practice — but more than anything, my commitment is simply to you and your wellbeing.
